Animas Hall groundbreaking ceremony planned for Aug. 15 at Fort Lewis College

DURANGO, Colo. - The official groundbreaking ceremony for Fort Lewis College’s new Animas Hall will be held Fri., Aug. 15, 2008, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place on campus between the Mears and Centennial apartments off 8th Ave. Everyone is invited to attend.

FLC President Dr. Brad Bartel and Ute Mountain Ute Sun Dance Chief Boyd Lopez will be among the speakers at the ceremony. Following the remarks, the groundbreaking dig will be performed by College and community representatives. Refreshments will be provided.

Animas Hall will be FLC’s new $12 million residence hall. The facility will offer 148 students suite-style living accommodations with the most modern conveniences, such as flat panel televisions and wireless Internet access. The hall will also include faculty/staff apartments and classroom space.

Construction on the project has already begun. Students are anticipated to begin moving in for the fall 2009 semester.
