DURANGO, Colo. – Animas River Days is just around the bend. The three-day event is being held June 20-22 in Santa Rita Park along Hwy 550 just south of downtown Durango. The park is a beautiful outdoor setting for a whitewater festival that honors and celebrates the Animas River, the heart and soul of Durango.
Parking for Animas River Days at Santa Rita Park is extremely limited. The Animas River Days committee and the City of Durango are strongly encouraging participants to walk or bike to the event utilizing the Animas River Trail, or to take advantage of the FREE transportation.
The City of Durango Transit will offer a FREE transit day on Saturday, June 21 for Animas River Days. On Sunday, Durango Transit will provide a FREE Shuttle service for Animas River Days from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The FREE Sunday shuttle picks up and drops off at the Durango Community Recreation Center, Chapman Hill, Backcountry Experience, Albertsons, Santa Rita Park, and 4 Corners Riversports.
Please utilize this FREE transportation opportunity or opt to walk or ride your bicycle via the Animas River Trail.
For more information and a complete schedule of events, please visit www.animasriverkeeper.org or www.durangogov.org or call Heidi Schaiberger at 375-7306. |
