BAYFIELD, Colo. – School may be out for the summer, but in Bayfield, Steamworks Brewing Co. has continued its “Wolverine Wednesdays” program, presenting $921 to Bayfield High School, earmarked to support the Student Council.
Wolverine Wednesdays is part of Steamworks’ corporate policy to “give back” to local communities. At Steamworks-Bayfield, each Wednesday the brewpub sets aside 3 percent of total sales for the day. At the end of the quarter these funds are totaled and donated to a targeted Bayfield High School program. Since the program’s launch in Fall 2007, approximately $4500 has been given to Bayfield youth activities. Previous recipients have been Bayfield High School’s Fall Athletics program, the Theatre Troupe and Wolverines Marching Band.
“Just because school is now out for the summer doesn’t mean Wolverine Wednesdays goes on hiatus,” said Brian McEachron, Steamworks director of marketing and sales. “Currently, anyone who visits Steamworks Bayfield on a Wednesday is supporting the Wolverines’ baseball program. We’ll be raising funds for the local boys of summer through June.”
The name Wolverine Wednesdays is derived from the mascot for Bayfield High School – the students are “The Wolverines.” Steamworks Bayfield is also located at 442 Wolverine Drive.
Steamworks Brewing Co. is open from 11 a.m. For further information regarding Wolverine Wednesdays, as well as wholesale beer purchase, contact the Bayfield operation at 970.884.7837, or visit www.steamworksbrewing.com.
The original Steamworks Brewing Co. – Durango’s “2005 Business of the Year” – is located at 801 E. Second. Ave., Durango (970.259.9200).
