Celebrate the end of an era April 5 & 6
Have you ever donned a Purgatory Ski Jacket? Did you help build Purg’s original day lodge? Did you provide support during the early years? Do you have an old season pass with EMPLOYEE strewn on it? Than you’re invited to celebrate the end of an era, as the resort says goodbye to Purgy’s with an all-out weekend party April 5th and 6th.
The resort is hoping to gather as many former employees and VIPs from Purgatory’s 43-year history during the two-day celebration to pay homage to the resort’s history and look forward to its future. The weekend will include plenty of tributes to the workers who helped build Purgatory Mountain through the years; and rollback prices with lift tickets only $10.
Show your spirit by wearing your best vintage outfit, possibly from the year you worked here, and be in your decades “yearbook” photo to be displayed on the new Purgatory Lodge’s history wall. The resort will also have Retro Ski Fashion Awards and an Old Fart’s Ski Race with plenty of prizes for alumni participants. Other events planned include live music from local favorites Hounds of Purg and, Charlie Langdon Book Signing for “Durango Ski,” Winter Sports Foundation Winter Carnival, and an on-mountain scavenger hunt.
The weekend closes out on Sunday with the Grand Finale Bonfire. Parts of Purgy’s, the original day lodge, will be sacrificed to the snow gods as a thank you for an incredible winter, and hopes of an equally great winter next year.
We want you to celebrate with us. If you have any pictures from your Purgatory glory gays, or old memorabilia that you want to donate to our History Wall, please let us know. Contact us at 970-385-8901 x 0.
Find out more about our final weekend celebration, including special lodging packages online at www.durangomountainresort.com/purgysparty . |
