Community invited to “badge pinning” ceremony for new Police Chief

DURANGO, Colo. The community is invited to attend a public badge pinning ceremony for Durango’s new Police Chief David Felice, Fri., July 11, 4:30 p.m. at the Durango Community Recreation Center. Light appetizers will be served, and Durango A Capella will perform the National Anthem.

Felice was sworn in July 9 by the Honorable Judge Lyman during a short ceremony attended only by staff. He officially began his tenure with the City of Durango on July 7.

The new chief brings 29 years of diversified experience in the criminal justice system to Durango. He recently retired from the Colorado Springs Police Department, where he had served since 1980, most recently as Deputy Chief. Felice is a member of the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Felice was selected out of a pool of 67 applicants and was one of four finalists subject to a rigorous assessment center process, consisting of two interview panels and three assessment activities.
