Marchell Fletcher was appointed to fill a vacancy on the FLC Alumni Association Board of Directors at last night's monthly board meeting.

Fletcher, a 1979 Fort Lewis College geology graduate, is an insurance agent for Prudential Financial in Durango. Although Fletcher is new to the Alumni board, she has worked with the group in the past to establish affinity partnerships with Prudential Long-Term Care and Liberty Mutual Group Savings Plus. These programs offer discounted insurance for FLC alumni.

Fletcher has also volunteered for the Alumni Association at tailgate parties at Skyhawk football and basketball games in recent years and at the Fall Blaze, which raises money for cycling scholarships.

"Marchell has been and is still a respected leader in the Durango Community and continues to assist FLC above and beyond expectations," said Alumni Vice President Russ Elliott ('89).

As a student, Fletcher was active in KDUR, the Geology Club and represented the student body on administrative search committees.

Fletcher is married to fellow FLC alumnus Rich Fletcher ('80). The couple resides in Durango.

Her appointment ends at the annual meeting of the FLC Alumni Association, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. She fills a vacancy created by Monique Grinde ('91), who resigned on Feb. 13, 2008. Grinde had eight months remaining on her term.
