Fort Lewis College President Dr. Brad Bartel will be heading back to Denver this weekend for a scheduled second stem-cell transplant as part of the overall treatment for multiple myeloma, a form of cancer affecting plasma cells in the bone marrow. Dr. Bartel anticipates spending three to four weeks in Denver for this transplant, a much shorter time span than the first stem-cell transplant last year.

Dr. Bartel’s multiple myeloma has been in remission for the past six months and he reports that he is feeling fine.
