DURANGO, Colo. - The La Plata County Historical Society will host the 2008 Heritage Award Celebration honoring Fred Kroeger and Allen and Carol Harper, June 27-28.
Festivities on Fri,, June 27, 5 to 8:30 p.m., include a special train ride on board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge from Rockwood to Cascade Canyon and featuring the Victorian Aid Society portraying early pioneers. An evening picnic will be held at the Cascade events pavilion. Cost is $60 per person and attendance is limited to 100.
On Sat., June 28, 7 to 10 p.m. a public reception will be held at D&SNG Railroad Museum in Downtown Durango. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at Oscar's, First National Bank and the Animas Museum.
