DURANGO (May 1, 2008)—High Water 08 let’s you make your best guess at peak flow on the Animas River for chances to win big prizes. Markers are $5 or $20 for five and they are available at Carver’s, Four Corners River Sports, Mild to Wild, Sahaira’s and Maria’s Bookstore in Durango, Colorado. River rats and all their neighbors are encouraged to challenge each other to make the first year of this contest a big success.
The contest is a fundraising activity for the Durango Discovery Museum at the Powerhouse. Winners will be announced at the Who’s Your Daddy street festival on June 14, 2008 at 6pm. Winner’s do not need to be present to win.
Contest runs May 1 to June 1, 2008
Prizes: Necky Vibe kayak valued at over $1,000 from Mild to Wild, Tomcat Solo Inflatable Kayak package valued over $700 from 4 Corners River Sports, a rafting trip from Mountain Waters Rafting with a catered lunch by Norton’s at the Discovery Museum, Nintendo Wii, iPod Shuffle from the Connecting Point, Nintendo DS, $50 Walmart gift certificate.

The Discovery Museum at the Powerhouse is an expansion project of the Children's Museum of Durango, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. When it opens, the museum will include an interactive science + energy center for all ages, sustainability labs, restaurant and museum shop, an outdoor science park and sound garden, and Sudden Science camps and afterschool programs.
