DURANGO, Colo. - Jeff Wadsworth, former Controller for La Plata Electric Association, has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer, according to Greg Munro, CEO. His duties include oversight of LPEA’s Finance, Customer Service, Billing and Accounting groups.

A Colorado native, originally from Leadville, Wadsworth joined the accounting firm Arthur Anderson in Denver following his graduation from Fort Lewis College.

“I then followed my wife, Trish, who is a Durango native, to Portland, Ore. where I went to work for the accounting firm KPMG,” said Wadsworth.

He continued his career at Canby Utility, a municipal utility serving some 22,000 customers in the Portland area. Hired there as Finance Director, Wadsworth was promoted to Assistant General Manager.

“That experience gave me a good overview of all aspects of the utility industry, and how the departments integrate,” said Wadsworth. “It prepared me well to return to Durango and work for LPEA.”

Wadsworth joined LPEA in 2006 as Controller. The family now resides in Bayfield, where they are active in the community. Wadsworth was recently appointed to the Bayfield Planning Commission.

“I’m honored and privileged to serve as LPEA’s next CFO,” said Wadsworth. “I look forward to aiding in finding proactive financial solutions for the challenges we are facing in the energy industry, and continue to build on providing our member/owners with outstanding customer service.”

Wadsworth accepted the position vacated by former LPEA CFO Dan Hammond who has moved on to new challenges in Virginia, where he and his wife Lori are closer to family.

LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its nearly 30,000 members with more than 40,000 meters, safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible.
