DURANGO, Colo. - Syndicom has named Mark Epstein as principal consultant and vice president of professional services. He brings more than 20 years of management consulting and software implementation expertise to the company.

“My role will be to help our customers fully realize the benefits of the Syndicom solution in achieving their goals and improving the quality of the health care industry,” said Epstein. “Understanding our customers’ challenges and opportunities will enable the Syndicom team to more accurately and efficiently target our software solutions, saving our clients time, resources, and dollars as they create a new paradigm for surgeon education and sales support.”

Management consulting has been a primary focus of Epstein’s professional career, which includes co-founding Convergent Group—a management consulting and systems integration firm that specialized in providing business process reengineering and technology implementation expertise to public utility companies and the government sector. Epstein was responsible for the company’s management consulting and development of financial modeling software, as well as negotiating major contracts including those with IBM and EDS corporations. He retired from Convergent Group in 2000, after it was purchased by Schlumberger—a firm specializing in oil-field services and information technology.

“We’re fortunate to have Mark at Syndicom,” said Scott Capdevielle, CEO/founder of Syndicom. “He has a unique ability to bring professionals together creating strong synergistic relationships beneficial for both parties involved. His passion for what we specialize in is invaluable to our goals.”

“What Syndicom is doing is remarkable,” said Epstein, whose goals include getting most, if not all, medical device companies to use the Syndicom solution. “For the first time in the health care industry, surgeons, researchers, sales representatives and executives are able to successfully and quickly collaborate on issues and challenges to improve patient lives—which is the ultimate objective.”

Epstein holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and two Master of Science degrees in Environmental Sciences and Geology from Indiana University. He is readily known around Durango as the former owner of Canyon Music and as a member of the popular bluegrass band The Badly Bent.
