(Durango, CO) – The Arts & Crafts Market of Durango, Inc., the areas only weekly arts & crafts market, will begin on May 10th at it’s brand new location, Buckley Park in downtown Durango. The market runs practically every Saturday through September.
“Our first year was so well received by local artists and art lovers alike, that we decided to keep it going into a second year,” says Rene Caro the Market Coordinator. “Our stay at Albertsons was great, but greener pastures await us at Buckley Park. Artists are excited about the prospect of being set up on nice green lawn surrounded by beautiful trees. There really is a sense of excitement about the new location.”
As before, the market will accept only local art by local artists, but the area has been extended to include the greater 4-corners area. “There are so many talented artists in the area, it was a shame to turn some away just because they were a little outside our area. Now that we have more room for booths at Buckley Park, we can include more of the gifted artists in the 4-corners area.” points out Patty Caro the Market Director, and wife of Rene Caro. “The more the merrier, I say.” The market will now feature artists from parts of Arizona and Utah, as well as larger areas of New Mexico and Colorado.
Early reaction to the 2nd year of the Arts & Crafts Market of Durango has been very strong. Many artists who weren’t able to participate in the 1st year will now be selling at the ACMD. This means more selection for art lover visiting the market.
New for 2008 is the “Charity of the Month” feature of the ACMD. Each month a local charity will be benefit from the month long fund raising activity. 5% of all sales at the ACMD will go directly to the charity. “We are thrilled to be helping these very worthy charities. They do so much for our community. Our artists are happy to help” says Patty Caro. A complete listing of the monthly charities is on the ACMD web site.
Art lovers visiting the market will be able to enjoy not only excellent artistic creations made by local artists, but also some tasty food, coffee, soft drinks, live dance and live music.
Those interested in finding out more about the market, or about selling or buying at the ACMD are encouraged to visit their web site at http://acmdurango.org/ or calling 970-247-9242.
