BAYFIELD, Colo. – As part of Steamworks Brewing Co.’s corporate policy to “give back” to local communities, the Bayfield Steamworks brewpub has presented $1273.90 to Bayfield High School, earmarked to support the Bayfield Theater Troupe.
The funds were generated during the third quarter (July-September 2007) through the Steamworks program “Wolverine Wednesdays.” Each Wednesday, Steamworks-Bayfield sets aside 3 percent of total sales for the day, which, at the end of the quarter is tallied and given to a targeted Bayfield High School program. In the second quarter, the launch of the program, more than $1100 was given to Bayfield’s Fall Athletics program.
“In just six months Steamworks-Bayfield has raised more than $2400 for Bayfield High School student programs,” said Brian McEachron, Steamworks director of marketing and sales. “The three months of Wednesday’s sales through the end of the year will go to aid the Bayfield Marching Band.”
The name Wolverine Wednesdays is derived from the mascot for Bayfield High School – the students are “The Wolverines.” Coincidentally, Steamworks Bayfield is also located at 442 Wolverine Drive.
“Wednesdays have quickly become one our busiest out in Bayfield,” added McEachron. “And it is fun to see everyone going out to Steamworks for a great meal and great beer for a good cause.”
Steamworks Brewing Co. is open from 11 a.m., serving lunch and dinner. For further information regarding Wolverine Wednesdays, as well as wholesale beer purchase, contact the Bayfield operation at 970.884.7837, or visit www.steamworksbrewing.com.
The original Steamworks Brewing Co. – Durango’s “2005 Business of the Year” – is located at 801 E. Second. Ave., Durango (970.259.9200).
