In celebration of Earth Day, Habitat for Humanity and La Plata Electric Association are teaming up to hold a Yes We Can…Smash!! (an aluminum can smashing event to help make transport to Cortez more efficient and affordable) on Saturday, April 19 from 10am to 2pm. It will be held in the La Plata Electric Association parking lot at 45 Stewart in BoDo Park. Anyone can participate; individuals or groups but you must sign up in advance by calling Nadine @ 970-382-9735 or email: Nadine@habitatdurango.org. Additionally, if you have aluminum cans you would like to donate to the Yes We Can… Smash!! You may drop them off at the Habitat Home Supply Store, 3001 N. Main Avenue in Durango or make arrangements to bring them to the Yes We Can…Smash!! prior to noon on April 19. This is an ideal way for community members of all ages and abilities to join together to help our earth by recycling aluminum cans and at the same time supporting Habitat for Humanity’s construction of affordable homes in La Plata County. All proceeds from Yes We Can…Smash!! will be used for the construction of affordable (and greener) homes Habitat will be building in Bayfield this summer.
