Consignment Gains Momentum

A sign of the times…. activity at consignment and thrift stores has increased. And why not. There are so many great finds at consignment shops and thrift stores.

Weecycle Durango A consignment option, unique to our community is Weecycle. Overwhelmed with kids clothes and toys in their homes, two local moms, Amy Mantineo & Sara Campano, created Weecycle Durango. This seasonal sales event is held twice a year, and enables families to recycle, through consignment, their gently used kid’s items to others in our community.

The first event, which was held in September 2009, featured hundreds of quality baby and kid’s items for sale at a fraction of the retail cost. Shoppers snapped up incredible bargains on brand name clothing, gear and toys. At the same time, consignors cleared out their clutter and made money on items they no longer needed. The next Weecycle event is scheduled for May 15th at La Plata Fairgrounds.  Go to weecycledurango.com to consign goods your family no longer needs.

Used-clothing consignment stores like Reruns and Second Time Around sell items on behalf of sellers.  Smart shoppers save money buying used instead of new – leaving more money for other needs (like… say, another gallon or three of gas). And consigners, make a little extra money off the “stuff” that is only serving the purpose of stealing space in their closet.
