Eat Local Challenge

Starting on Monday, September 5th, Durango Natural Foods Co-op is partnering with Local First, Healthy Lifestyles La Plata and the FLC Environmental Center to bring the first EAT LOCAL CHALLENGE.

DNF has coordinated with approximately ten locally-owned restaurants, as well as local producers, to highlight locally produced food items.  In the store, most locally produced items will be on sale, and the deli will be designing (daily) two special dishes, comprised of local ingredients, which you can purchase with the Eat Local Dollar.  For more information, please visit www.local-first.org.

And to truly show their support for Eat Local Week, they will be having another LOCAL APPRECIATION DAY on Wednesday, September 8th.  All Locals will receive 5% off of their purchases, and owners will receive an additional 5% (10% total).  So head on down to the Co-op and show your support for the Local Economy & Food System. Bring your appetite as there will certainly be a plethora of samples for you to enjoy.

FYI – The DNF Board of Directors is looking for current member-owners who are committed to the cooperative principles and can commit time to monthly meetings, trainings and Board events. Ideal candidates should have a mind for fiscal and governance issues, and actively participate on behalf of member-owners, but as one voice for the Board. We envision someone who sees the big picture, thinks progressively, has a positive attitude, and is FUN! If you think that you ‘fit the bill’, we would love for you to join our constructive and dynamic team! If interested, please ask your friendly cashier for an information/application packet or visit our website homepage at www.durangonaturalfoods.coop.

Applications are due by September 17th.
