Durango, CO – The Durango Blues Train is a unique ‘moving’ experience featuring live blues acts while passengers travel aboard the D&SNGRR’s coal-fired, steam-powered train to the spectacular and breathtaking “Highline” canyon of Colorado’s San Juan National Forest.

The Durango Blues Train will expand to two unforgettable weekends in 2014, May 30 and 31st and August 22 and 23rd. Presented by the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival and SBG Productions, this unique live music event takes place aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Durango, Colorado. Each night will feature a different lineup of six live blues artists for passengers to sing, sway and dance with.

“It’s hard to believe we’re going into our fourth anniversary of the Durango Blues Train. We are excited to add a second two-day weekend later in the summer, giving more people a chance to ride the Blues Train,” said Steve Gumble, founder of the Durango Blues Train. “Something magical happens when you combine blues with a steam train.”

The Durango Blues Train is proud to announce the lineup for the first weekend of the 2014 Blues Train, on May 30th and 31st. Award-winning musical guests include Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Todd & The Fox, Robby Overfield, Valerie James & Kevin Jones, The Bottoms Up Blues Gang, Jeff Strahan, C.W. Ayon, Johnny Long, Chris Dracup, and Gino Matteo.

Blues Train
The moment the Blues Train fires up and departs Durango’s historic train depot, passengers will know they are in for the experience of a lifetime. Each artist performs in a different vintage coach car, while passengers are free to sample the different musical acts by traveling from one rail car to next. The event features six live blues performances (2 bands and 4 solo/duo artists) in six rail cars with a festive musical environment that promises an amazing experience.
Each artist performs in their own vintage coach, while passengers are to free to dance their way from coach to coach and delight in a variety of musical performances. Four coaches have seats while two are open with no seats to entice and encourage dancing.
To cap it off, passengers will experience breathtaking sunset views along the ‘Highline,” a world-famous section of the railroad crawling along a ledge hundreds of feet above the Animas River. So enjoy the blues, your favorite beer or wine, and the beautiful scenery of the famous train featured in the Hollywood production, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”
